Meet Susan

As a former journalist and adjunct professor of English-Writing, Susan M. Davis continues as a writer, editor, public speaker, teacher, minister. and advocate. She holds a B.A. in English-Writing from Eastern University and an M.A. in English-Writing and Publishing from Rosemont College. Born in the heart of South Philadelphia in an all Italian, all Catholic neighborhood, she later spent 10 years living, working, and studying for the Ph.D. in the Hampton Roads area of VA. She now resides in Southern Coastal Delaware, where she can be found enjoying her family and her many wonderful friends around the dinner table, in local coffee houses and art galleries, and of course, chatting on the back deck or the front porch. Susan enjoys reading, writing, and research, experiencing local art, live music, and theater, as well as fashion and social media. This is no doubt due to her strong background in the fine and performing arts, as well as the communication arts. Susan has a fresh and positive perspective on life. Friends describe Susan as smart, funny, sensitive, and caring – and always busy.

Susan is also a domestic violence and financial abuse survivor. An attempt on her life by an intimate partner on September 11, 2011, changed her forever. The financial, emotional, and psychological scars took longer to heal than she ever imagined. Susan has written about her experience in an upcoming book, Survivorship: How I Survived My Personal 911 and You Can Too. As soon as it becomes available, we will provide details on how you can order yours. For more information on Susan’s survivor story, see the Survivor tab of this website.
In 2019, Susan's Financial Empowerment Coach, from People’s Place, a Delaware Non-Profit serving Domestic Violence Survivors, nominated her to be a National Spokeswoman for the Allstate Foundation's Survivor Network. Susan and two other survivors took part in a national awareness campaign on Financial Abuse and Domestic Violence. This has led to Susan speaking publicly about domestic violence, financial abuse, and other topics. For more information on Susan’s speaking experience see the Speaker tab of this website. To discuss having Susan speak at your event simply e-mail her.

Susan offers a host of professional writing services, including writing and social media coaching and strategy. For more information on how she can help your non-profit, ministry, or small business, see the Writer tab of this website. E-mail Susan to book a 15 minute free consultation to see if she can help.

Creative expression is also an important part of Susan’s recovery, relaxation, and advocacy work. To see some of her most popular creations, view the Artist tab of this website. You can also order limited quantities of her digital artwork by e-mail.
